Starlink installation & Home network solution
Step 1 - Customer asked us to permanently mount his gen 2 actuated Starlink system in an aesthetically pleasing way. This was achieved by installing it on the timber oil tank surround and route into a utility room where the home network system would be located.
Step 2 - Install ducting between the house and the garage and from the garage to the summer house. Pull in network cable between all three properties. This could be ethernet or fibre but, cat 6 external grade ethernet was selected as the most appropriate in this case. Ample protection is provided due to the external grade of the cable and, the ducting it was routed in underground.
Step 3 - Terminate and commission the DATA cabling infrastructure into each property.
Step 4 - Install the Ubiquiti WIFI devices. A U6 In-Wall access point was selected for the summer house due to it’s modest WIFI signal distribution and, it’s 4 network ports suitable for connecting any wired peripherals in that location. A U6 Mesh was selected as the outdoor WIFI access point. Once installed, this provided coverage across the entire garden area. As all the AP’s are hardwired, meshing was disabled maximising signal strength of each device.
Step 5 - Install the Cloud Gateway/router and switches. A Dream Machine Pro was selected for the install. The Starlink was set to bypass mode and connected to the Dream Machine Pro. The standard 24 port switch was selected due to it’s PoE capability and for future device addition.
Step 6 - The Ubiquiti WIFI devices are now connected, configured with a network SSID of the customers choice, updated and made live. The customer chose to include his BT Mesh WIFI devices onto the network so these were also connected. This being said, there is an intention to return and replace this with Ubiquiti U6 + WIFI access points in the coming months.
